We’re excited to announce a powerful new feature in the UENI Editor: Dropdown Menus for your website’s navigation. This long-awaited addition gives you greater control over your site's structure and design, making it easier than ever to organize content and guide visitors intuitively.
How to Enable Dropdowns
Getting started is simple:
Go to your Header settings in the editor.
Click on the Menu section.
Under Type of menu, select "Dropdown"
Once selected, a suite of new options will appear, unlocking advanced navigation functionality.
Enhanced Menu Options & Control
Choosing the Dropdown type reveals several powerful settings, giving you both functional and aesthetic flexibility:
Core Layout Choices: You can still utilize popular options like a Sticky Menu, Menu with Logo in Line, and Split Menu Items with center logo for your primary navigation bar.
Breadcrumbs: Enhance user experience by enabling "Add breadcrumbs on each page." This displays a helpful path (e.g., Home > Products > Accessories) at the top of your pages.
Overlay under Menu: This option adds a semi-transparent layer behind your open dropdown, increasing contrast and readability. You can fine-tune its opacity to match your site's style.
Open dropdown items on: Choose how your dropdowns activate. Set them to open on Hover for faster navigation or on Click for more deliberate interaction.
Design Menu
A new "Dropdown" tab appears within the Design Menu section, dedicated entirely to styling your dropdowns. You have complete control over:
Item Width and Height: Adjust the size of each dropdown item.
Hover Effects: Choose from Underline, Highlight, or Color change styles, with full control over colors, underline width, and corner radius.
Divider: Allows you to add a line between each item and customize its color.
Font Options: Customize Font Size, Format (Bold, Italic, Caps), and Font Color.
Border and Drop shadow: You can apply a Border (with customizable thickness and color), and create depth with a Drop Shadow (control distance, spread, blur, and color).
Background & Icons: Set the Dropdown Background Color and adjust the Icon Size.
In mobile mode, you can also customize the style of each menu level. To toggle Mobile Mode, click on the icon at the top of the editor.
A new section will appear in the Menu design tab titled Menu Level Options.
Choose between the first or second level and customize the look of the menu including Font Size, Format, Alignment, and font and background color.
Menu Navigation
Below the design options, you'll find the Menu Navigation section. This is where you manage the individual items that appear in your menu.
Reordering Items: You can easily change the order of your menu items. Simply click and hold the six dots (⋮⋮), then drag it to your preferred position and drop it. You can even drag one item onto another to instantly create a dropdown menu.
Additional Options: For each menu item, click on the three vertical dots (⋮) on the right-hand side to reveal a dropdown menu with the following choices:
Edit: Modify the menu item's title and its behavior.
Move Item Up: This option will move the item to the main menu instead of the dropdown menu.
Add Subitem Menu: This will allow the item to unfold its own dropdown menu for multiple levels and more advanced organization.
Add/Change Media: Allows you to choose an image or an icon from your Media Library which will be displayed next to the item title.
Hide From Menu: Temporarily remove the item from the menu without deleting it.
Delete: Permanently remove the item from your menu.
Add Menu Item: Click this to create a brand new custom link in your navigation menu. This item will always be added to the main menu.
