Updated over 2 weeks ago

Your business may have gone through some major changes, or you're planning on having a big launch for your professional website. Once your website is built on our end, it is available online for all visitors. You might be wondering - how can I temporarily deactivate my site while taking the time to make edits?

Luckily, we have just the solution for you! Here's a step-by-step guide on how to deactivate your website.

If your website shows an overlay but no overlay is active in your editor, you might still have our legacy solution for this activated. reach out to support to deactivate this banner, so you can start using this new overlay.

Step-by-Step: Add an overlay to your website

Step 1: Navigate to "Website Overlay"

First, log in to your Hub and select the Edit Website tab.

Click on 'Settings'

Next, select 'Website Overlay'

Step 2: Style your website overlay

From here, you can now edit the overlay of your website. You will see that in the preview, your website has disappeared, and only the overlay is present.

While you only see the website overlay now, it is not activated for your website unless you have activated it in this section and saved your changes.

A website overlay consists out of 4 elements:

  • An image (like your logo, or an under construction image)

  • A tagline (like 'coming soon', or 'Under construction')

  • Action buttons (send a message, call, book...)

  • A background (an image or background color)

All can be edited from within this section.

once you are satisfied with your changes, activate your overlay.

How will I know that my overlay is active?

When your overlay is activated, you will not see this in the editor when editing any of your other pages.

On the main page of your editor, you will have a warning to show that the overlay is active. As long as it is active, this is what your customers see.

Check out our video tutorial below to see it in action!
