A Google Business Profile (GBP) improves your business’s visibility on Google Search and Google Maps, making it easier for customers to find you. However, Google has strict eligibility requirements, and not all businesses qualify for a GBP.
Who Can Have a Google Business Profile?
Eligible Businesses:
- Businesses with a physical storefront that customers can visit.
- Service-area businesses that travel to customers (e.g., electricians, mobile hairdressers).
Not Eligible:
- Online-only businesses (e.g., e-commerce stores, digital services with no physical interaction).
While UENI can create a GBP for you, approval is ultimately up to Google, and success is not guaranteed.
How to Improve Your Chances of Getting a GBP
Ensure Consistency Across Your Online Presence
- Your business name, address, and services should match across your UENI page, social media, and any other online listings.
Provide a Valid Address & Service Area
- If you choose to hide your address, you must still provide a real, verifiable address for Google’s verification process.
- P.O. boxes, virtual offices, and mail forwarding addresses are NOT accepted.
Avoid Duplicate Listings
- There should be only one GBP per business to prevent issues with how your information appears on Google Search and Maps.
