Tips for building your Google Business Profile

How to make sure UENI can build your Google Business Profile, from eligibility to name, address, areas covered and phone number.

On the Plus and Growth plans, we list your business on Google Business Profile (GBP) once your website is built. Google rejects or disables listings with false, misleading or incomplete information, so getting your details right is key. Here's how to make sure your listing builds successfully.

Check your eligibility

Under Google's guidelines, these businesses aren't eligible:

  • Rental or for-sale properties, like holiday homes, show homes or vacant apartments. Sales or leasing offices are eligible.

  • Ongoing services, classes or meetings at a location you don't own or can't represent.

Warning: We can only build listings in our supported countries. Outside them? Create your own GBP, then connect it to your UENI website.

Business name

Use your real-world business name. Google won't accept marketing taglines, shop codes, trademark signs, all capitals, opening hours, phone numbers, URLs, special characters (like %, & or $), product or service details, or location information unless they're genuinely part of your name. See Google's examples.

To edit it, open the UENI Editor, go to Pages > Home > Header, change your name, and click Save.

Pro tip: Want to show a slogan? Some templates have a subtitle field for it.

Business address

Google needs an address to verify your listing, even if you deliver or work online. Include your street and number, postal code, city, state and country. Not sure of the format? Search your address on Google Maps and copy its style.

Warning: PO boxes and remote mailboxes aren't allowed and will stop your listing from building.

To update it, go to Pages in the Editor, open a page with your Contact section, select Contact Me and click Save.

Areas covered

Serve customers beyond your main location, for example with deliveries or home visits? Add service areas using postcodes, cities or countries. Find Areas Covered just above Business Address in the same section. Learn about service areas.

Warning: Google allows up to 20 areas. Adding more can stop your listing from building.

Phone number

If you chose to show your phone number, check that:

  • It's from the same country as your business address.

  • It's complete, with no missing digits.

  • Any extra numbers are also complete and correct.

Find Office Phone Number and Mobile Phone Number below your address, and save any changes.

Hide your address or phone number

Working remotely? We still need your address to build your listing, but you can hide it. In the Editor, open Contact Us and switch off Address visibility (grey is off).

Note: After hiding your address, contact us, and we'll show your service areas on Google instead. To hide your phone number, delete it from Contact Us, save, and let us know.

Final thoughts

With accurate, complete details, your Google listing is set up for success!
