Here's a step-by-step guide on how to configure your UENI mail on the new Outlook for Windows — the redesigned app that ships with Windows 11 and recent Microsoft 365 installs.
If you are still on classic Outlook 2019, follow this guide instead.
Before you start, make sure you have:
Your full UENI email address (e.g. [email protected])
Your mailbox password
Step 1: Open the new Outlook
Launch Outlook from the Start menu. If the title bar shows a "New Outlook" toggle in the top-right, make sure it is switched ON.
Step 2: Open Account settings
If this is the first time you have opened Outlook, you will be taken straight to the Add account screen — skip to Step 3.
Otherwise, click the gear icon (Settings) in the top-right, then go to Accounts → Email accounts → Add account.
Step 3: Enter your UENI email address
Type your full UENI email address (e.g. [email protected]) and click Continue.
Step 4: Switch to IMAP setup
The new Outlook will try to detect the provider automatically. Auto-detect will not return the right settings for UENI mail. Outlook will detect IMAP and will ask you to configure this. Click Show more to continue with step 5.
Step 5: Enter the server settings
Fill in the IMAP and SMTP fields with these values, then click Continue:
Username: your full UENI email address (should still be shown at the top
Password: your UENI mailbox password
Incoming mail (IMAP Incoming server):
Server: mail.uenimail.com
Port: 993 for IMAP (or 995 for POP)
Encryption method: SSL/TLS
Clear the fields under SMTP Configuration
Outgoing mail (SMTP outgoing server):
Server: mail.uenimail.com
Port: 465
Encryption method: SSL/TLS
Require sign-in (SMTP authentication): On — use the same username and password as IMAP
Secure Password Authentication (SPA): Unchecked
Step 6: Finish
Outlook will test the connection. If everything is correct, your UENI inbox will appear in the folder list on the left. Send yourself a test email to confirm sending works too.
Troubleshooting
"Couldn't connect" / "We couldn't sign you in" — double-check the username is the full email address, not just the prefix.
Incoming works, sending fails — confirm SMTP is set to port 465 with SSL/TLS (not STARTTLS on 587), and that outgoing-server authentication is enabled.
Auto-detect keeps suggesting Outlook.com / Microsoft 365 — back out and explicitly pick IMAP in the Advanced setup screen. The new Outlook hides this option behind "Show more".
Congrats, your UENI mail is now configured on the new Outlook!
